Our story began in 1981, when we opened our doors as Northwestern Sign. At the time, there were only a handful of sign companies in the Houston area, and our business was built around one thing, billboards.

Like many small businesses, we started with big dreams, a strong work ethic, and the belief that if someone trusted us with a project, we’d find a way to make it happen.

In 1983, we built our first shop on Crub Jay Street. It was a major milestone and gave us a place to grow. By 1987, the company had evolved into Signtex Outdoor, a name that better reflected where we were headed and the expanded services we were beginning to offer.

One opportunity led to another, and before long we were working closely with developers and builders throughout the Houston area. One of our owners had experience working with a local developer, and those relationships helped establish Signtex as the trusted sign company behind some of the region’s most recognizable master-planned communities.

We were proud to design and build many of the signs for First Colony and New Territory in Sugar Land, long before the neighborhoods, shopping centers, and schools existed. Back then, much of the area was sugar cane fields, with the state prison standing as one of the few landmarks. Watching those communities grow from the ground up while knowing our work became part of their identity is something we’ll always be proud of.

One story from those days perfectly captures the Signtex spirit. While developing the entrance signage for New Territory, the developer told us he wanted real gold incorporated into the sign. It wasn’t something companies were doing at the time, but we’ve never been a company that says, “It can’t be done.” We figured it out, becoming one of the first sign companies to incorporate genuine gold into a sign. That project became a defining example of our philosophy: every challenge has a solution if you’re willing to find it.

As our reputation grew, so did the opportunities. We were honored to become the first sign company selected to provide signage for Reliant Stadium when it opened in 2002, today known as NRG Stadium. Being part of such an iconic Houston landmark remains one of the proud milestones in our history.

In 1990, we built and moved into our current facility on Alma Street in Tomball. More than three decades later, we’re still operating from the same building we built ourselves, serving businesses, developers, schools, municipalities, and organizations throughout Texas.

Over the last decade, we’ve expanded beyond signs to become a complete branding partner. In addition to custom signs and graphics, we now provide embroidered apparel, printed T-shirts, hats and caps, uniforms, promotional products, and branded merchandise. Whether our customers need monument signage, vehicle graphics, trade show displays, company apparel, or promotional giveaways, our goal is the same, to help their brand stand out.

More than 40 years after we started, the values that built this company remain unchanged. We believe in quality craftsmanship, honest relationships, innovative solutions, and doing whatever it takes to get the job done right.
